OVERVIEW
Canyon Explorations/Expeditions is a small family business founded in 1987 by Edie Crawford and her children, Garrett and Laurie Lee. Garrett, Laurie Lee, and her husband, Cameron, are hands-on managers covering all bases from Guiding to Reservations. As Guides, Garrett and Cameron bring three decades of experience on the Colorado to our trips. We work together as a family to realize our shared vision of extended wilderness trips focused on education, participation, and adventure.
We are dedicated to a stewardship of the Canyon's majesty. Our groups follow resource protection practices to minimize impact on this precious natural resource. You'll leave with a renewed understanding of the interaction of man and wilderness, and a deepened connection to yourself and respect for nature.
Our long trips provide the opportunity to separate ourselves from the distractions of our daily lives: phones, cars, traffic, and work stresses. The focus of life on the river shifts to concerns including pushing ourselves physically, experiencing the beauty of the natural world, food, shelter, camaraderie, and learning. We are able to gain perspective and to think differently about ourselves and our life issues.
On Canyon Explorations/Expeditions trips, we are committed to preserving a technology free environment for all trip participants. Laptops, satellite phones and radios are not welcome on our trips and their use is prohibited to safeguard this element of the experience.
Our guides are the heart and soul of our company and are the single biggest influence in bringing the canyon to life for our guests. Our crews are carefully selected men and women with deep interpretive backgrounds, environmental ethics, safety training, and whitewater skills who are committed to sharing the canyon and themselves with our guests. They are the centerpiece of About Us and most of them are featured here with photos and short biographies under guides.
